he did get a positive bump, looking like an actual president (during the storm, going to fema, etc), instead of looking like a debate punching bag
Romney, on the other hand, is posing with cases of corn and cheerios, returning to a state he should have in an easy win (FL) and the overall confidence seems to be going obama's way.
So the storm did help obama, no doubt about it. anytime there's a nat'l crisis, you have the nation rallying around the president no matter what.
