Is he only trying it once?
No, he'll be back. Long classes in this meet. I think a lot of guys mis-judged their openers.

I don't care how strong someone is, as a coach you don't send out an inexperienced lifter to open with a WR. Massive coaching fail.

Yeah, just a tiny bit more to lock it out, and he'd of had it.

How much do you think that miss cost him in terms of dollars? $200K or more?

This meet? $5500. Powerlifting has no-where even close to to the money bodybuilding has in it. He looks like he certainly has the #716 in him, but is just inexperienced with large meets, and needs to pick his openers better. The prize money was for a World Record, and that probably made them too aggressive with the numbers.

I meant the amount he would get with a sponsorship with the World record. Has to be up there.

Ah!. Honestly, it would depend on how long he kept the record and how hard he hustled, but I could see $100,000 - 200,000 yearly, if he did guest lifter spots, sold courses, and got something like a Muscletech contract. Powerlifting is a hard sell to supplement companies, but the novelty of World's Biggest Bench is an attractive selling point.
