With overall voter turnout down, shockingly Romney got 2 million less votes than McCain! If Romney got as many votes as McCain, 59.6 million, he could have won.

The story of this election is voter turnout - Remember that 2008 voter turnout was 18% lower than 2004.  Now we know that Romney got even fewer votes than mccain.

  • Dumb people think Trump is smart.
Of course.  McCain even chose Palin over Romney for a running mate.   :D

This is HUGE though - it shows just how easily Obama could/should have been beaten.   Dem enthusiam was CRAP in 2012.

But it appears repubs just hated romney so much - they liked mccain better.   Two million stayed home, unreal.  Mccain would have won.  Boggles the mind.

EDIT - thanks for the stats bro -
OBAMA -- 59,651,236
ROMNEY -- 57,028,531

2008
OBAMA -- 69,456,897
MCCAIN -- 59,934,814

Shows ANY dem is COMPLETELY beatable in 2016... and that "GOTV" get out the vote effort is all that matters.  Obama got 10 million FEWER votes- america hates his ass!

2 million fewer voters.....why do I suspect that this is the amount of evangelical voters that didn't support Romney?

He sank a lot with hispanic voters - Repubs pretty much HAVE to run Rubio in 2016 now, it's not even debatable.

So...Hispanics will vote for the republican platform....as long as another Hispanic is running for office?

Is it really that racially motivated for them?  Are whites the only group still willing to vote for someone of a different race?

It doesn't matter. America is headed for a fiscal collapse and it doesn't matter who is in power. The numbers don't lie.

I used to think that.  In 2007/2008, I had my Schiff book, a shitload of precious metals, guns, rice, tubs of protein...

No collapse.  It's been 5 years of slow, gradual decline for us and most other countries, along with a tepid recovery.

but I don't foresee a huge massive collapse, as much as I used to predict it'd happen.  It'll be a slow erosion of quality of life.

Are you thinking "mormon" ?

Nope. I'm thinking evangelical. And I think I got my answer.

According to a CNN article, in Ohio, Obama got 30% of the white evangelical vote, up from 27% white evangelicals in 2008.

In swing state Ohio, exit polls showed that Obama got 30% support among white evangelicals. While that’s hardly a victory, it’s better than the 27% support Obama got among those voters four years ago.

Before the election, many evangelical leaders predicted that opposition to Obama over his support for abortion rights, his personal endorsement of same-sex marriage and his vision of government as a force for good would trump reservations evangelicals had about Romney’s past social liberalism and his Mormon faith.

“There is no evidence in voting patterns that President Obama's 'evolution' on same-sex marriage cost him anything,” Mohler said in another tweet Tuesday night.

Obama also narrowly won Catholics, even after the U.S. Catholic bishops waged a rigorous campaign against the Obama administration around the issue of religious liberty. The bishops alleged Obama was forcing Catholics to violate their own teachings by making health insurance companies provide free contraception coverage for virtually all employees.

That means McCain got more evangelicals than Romney. I said that Romney had to, at least, match McCain to beat Obama. In crucial areas, he underperformed and got beat.

That's unreal.  Never would have predicted that.

if we were ever going to have a monetary national collapse, it would have been 2008.

if we can print trilions of dollars, give them to banks to use in secret, then i see we will do ANYTHING to prevent a collapse.  That would include start wars, oust leaders, etc.    So I dont worry about a nat'l collapse... it will continue to trend down until the next killer app or technology arrives.  You know, the next iphone, the next nanotech, the next internet-  Something that changes EVERYTHING.  Maybe some sort of fuel, etc.

The same way the internet just changed everything in the late 90s with commerce and communication.

THAT is what the nation needs for recovery...
