COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Joe the Plumber isn't Joe the Congressman.
Samuel "Joe" Wurzelbacher (WUR'-zuhl-bahk-kur) lost his bid Tuesday for a U.S. House seat in northern Ohio.
Veteran Democrat Marcy Kaptur beat the Republican in his first attempt to win public office.
Wurzelbacher became an overnight sensation during the presidential campaign four years ago and a favorite of conservatives after questioning then-candidate Barack Obama about economic policies.
Republicans recruited the Toledo-area man to run Congress, but he faced an uphill battle taking on the longest serving Democratic woman in the House in a Democrat-friendly district.
Kaptur won a hard fought primary in March over Dennis Kucinich (koo-SIN'-ich) after she and the Cleveland-area congressman were put in the same district.
