The burial will be on November 20th with a 10 AM Mass at St. Gertrude Catholic Parish 1420 West Granville Avenue Chicago, IL 60660-1810 #773-764-3621 Sergio's Memorial Fund was approved to Frank Merchante. It seems that they're going to try to have a memorial after the real funeral like they did with Robert Kennedy. The Sergio Oliva Memorial Fund c/o Fifth Third Bank 353 W. Northwest Highway Barrington, IL 60010 Account #7237992040 Contact Person: Mr. Lorne Deacon Vice President (847) 381- 2352

This is one of the most cold-blooded posts I have ever seen here and that is saying much
This bastard 'vascsurgeon'- hopefully not a real surgeon but somehow connected to the medical industry racket in the US , is actually lamenting that he is going to loose the opportunity rip off dying people because of 'obamacare'
well if there was ever an endorsement for obamacare this is it, whatever obamacare is/might be. People like this are the scum of the earth. They are happy to let people without $$ die so as to make totally unjustified $$s, and then have the gull to complain if there is even a slight risk this is going to be taken way from them
Compared to this shit all PED dealers are saintly folk
Just another "keyboard tuff guy" Sometimes it is better to keep your mouth closed and let people wonder if you are a moron, then to open it and remove all doubt that you are. I am not surprised at your inabilty to understand the context of my post or even the words used, you can not even use correct punctuation and spelling in your post. I could expalin what dialysis and dialysis access is all about to you, but, you wouldn't understand any of it, sadly.

We just returned from Sergio's wake in Chicago, and the photos there of Sergio's home life with his children moved me immensely. I spoke with Sergio's daughter and she talked of her father with tenderness, 'my best friend, I loved him so much', she said, and that choked me up....no talk of his Myth greatness, just a daughter mourning her dad. The funeral is tomorrow which I plan to attend with Bill Seno.

July 4, 1941 71 yrs old Born in cuba
Sad news. 71 is a pretty good run, but in today's day and age he should have been blessed with at least ten more years. Its mostly out of my hands, but I'd like to believe I can make it to the centenarian stage with most of my mental faculties, and able to bathe and feed myself. That's what I strive for, and I've at least got genetics in my favor. Although quality of years always trumps the quantity of years for a life well lived.
Sergio was one the "great ones", whose physique and awe-inspiring photography, for which he was the subject, will live on forever.

5'10
Looked shorter to me. Probably the insanely round and thick musclebellies compacted his look a little without diminishing the aesthetics.

Sergio was one of a kind. In 1966 I took the bus to the Duncan Y.M.C.A. in Chicago in hopes of seeing him train. He would come in laughing and joking, do a few light sets and take a nap on the incline board. This happened three day's straight and I finally gave up. What a genetic freak, 20 inch arms and his waist was tiny, probably smaller than his thighs. Mr. America, Bob Gaijda was also there and looked small compared to Sergio.
