To be honest, its a neat idea but I am not sure why would would do that, if you really want to sleep outside do it, even with temp below freezing its very very possible, I've slept a lot of times in the wicklow mountains when it was very cold, you put up a fire you need a VERY good sleeping bag and you will do do fine.

NOTHING can beat the feeling when you wake up in the morning in a forest with the birds singing - its a real good feeling (probably DNA inprint memory of some sort).

you are wrong the last few winters were exceptionally strong, let me put it like this, we have people freezing in the wicklow mountains, so its cold enough.
It certainly is cold enough that you need a fire, and I am speaking out of experience since I am a lot up there.
As I said, I use the Snugpack Special Forces (why they named it like that is baffling to me) its a very very good sleeping bag, I also use a Karimor bivvy bag in case it gets wet, I never had any problems nor was I cold while in the bag.
