I have a yellow '77. It'll get a LOT more looks than any C5 or C6 around town. Obviously, as with any other older car, you don't get much in the way of the performance aspect of a modified C5 or C6, but it is a lot cooler.

68 Corvette ZL1 - 427ci all aluminum big block that was supposed to make over 650hp. Some say it may have made over 700. i think the big block models had problems with frame strength and twisting you, heard anything about this?

I have not, haven't been around a lot of the early Vette's. Anymore I think they're mostly driven back and forth to car shows and rarely ever get the power put to the ground.

Well I do know that you couldn't get the big 427 in convertible Camaro's because of that fear, aside from COPO orders... so it's definitely a possibility. I believe the Vette in 68 was a full frame car, I can't imagine GM would do a fiberglass unibodied car with a big block, seems like asking for trouble.

Only three or four of those ZL1 Corvettes were produced. I use to work with a GM Engineer that worked at the Corvette plant when the ZL1 was produced. The yellow one pictured was a Company Driven vehicle. He said noone wanted to drive it because of constant overheating. They finally spun the speedo with a drill to get enough mileage on the Vette to get it out of the program and auctioned off. My 2 Vettes 1994 LT1 6 speed. 2001 Lingenfelter Twin Turbo (700 hp).

Nice car. Had 2. Wait 'till the electrical system goes and no one knows how to fix it. The most undependable car I ever owned x 2.

I was wondering if LS block prices would drop with new gen motor coming out. I was pleasently surprised to find LS3 complete engine going for 5g~ complete crate motor reman around 5g~ and complete new crate motor around 6.5g very impressive! I am looking at getting an L33 5.3 though for my project car with a t56 from a gto (front engine rwd config vs the vette ones which are mounted in the rear) Even googled up some ls3s for 4k~ on sale... very nice... would hope they drpo more An LS3 with some quality boltons, header, exhaust, cam, tune, would be sick in my 2300lbs track car

LS engines are fairly cheap to buy and modify. With the next generation engine using direct injection and cylinder deactivation it will up the price of mods.
