Gorgeous car.  The rear looks too squarish in comparison with the rest of the car and the black A-pillars clash with the color of the roofline.  Also, the round exhaust tips are not in line with the squared-out rear.  I'm surprised the next gen engine was a 6.2, I had read it was going to be a 5.0ish size motor with high compression.

Interior looks to be a massive upgrade.  Corvette is all about performance-to dollar, which to this day remains virtually untouched.

^^ From what I've read the reasoning for the 6.2l engine was cylinder deactivation. Once it reduces to 4 cylinders it will still be 3.1l powerplant and have decent cruising power. At 5.0l it would reduce to 2.5l. In the past the GM engineers said they didn't go with cylinder deactivation because they didn't think the Corvette owners would like the change in exhaust tone. Wonder what they did anything with the exhaust to change this issue.

I doubt anyone will be particularly interested in the exhaust tone when they are not putting the hammer down.

You don't know Corvette owners. None want there car to sound like a V6 Camaro when cruising down the highway.

::)

Well, I was thinking they may do a small v8 with a twin turbo setup, far more efficient fuel usage and power but I guess not! There was the rumor I kept hearing about a 5.0 to 5.5 liter v8 with a turbo but i guess not!

I heard the C6 ZR1 started out as a twin turbo. The first test mule burned to the groung and the head of the Corvette team said no more turbos. Having said that I think there still is a possibilty for a smaller ci/turbo engine in the future. Maybe the next top of the line performance Vette.

i hear the lt1 have some waterpump location issues.

but damn, the lingenfelter is badass, very much one of the best rides ever made.is it somewhat streetable?
LT1's are notorious for ignition issues, the Optispark is a piece of shit.

It has a reverse rotation waterpump, never really heard anyone bitch about them. The ignition issue was HUGE however.

The LT1 waterpump isn't the issue, it's in the normal small block Chevy location. But, for some reason the engineers placed the ignition distributor/optispark between the waterpump and the block. With this placement if the waterpump leaks it will take out the distibutor. To me the optispark was a great idea, just bad placement.

The Lingenfelter TT drives just like a normal C5, even gets ~28 mpg on the highway. But when you hit the gas hold on, it has gone almost sideways at 70 mph!!

IMHO: For the price, the C5 Z06 is the best performance car on the market.

Import Tariffs. Same reason BMWs are so expensive when you can buy one in Germany for 1/2 the price.

I always liked the styling but was never comfortable in one, always felt cramped. I have never been in a newer model so maybe they have made them a bit more comfortable.

 They look neat and you do get a lot of performance for your $$.
