Well you'd be surprised how many people are fooled by it. Hence they shouldn't have these sort of powers. Who the hell are they? A private corporation snooping in people's emails.

The Fed is a private bank.  The point is why do they want or need these new broad power?.  What purpose does it serve them?

The question is, why would the Federal Government grant a private company any kind of powers infringing on citizens right to privacy?

I care. However, I am only 1 person. America is too divided to do anything. Most people care more about their twinkies and their Xbox then about important issues.

Please. The Fed is in effect a government agency. It was created by government. It's has a secured monopoly status by the government. It operates on behalf of the government (as well as their private member banks and other cronies). It's more correct to call it a hybrid institution. As Rothbard said, one can think of all government institutions as private--in a sense they are, they just have a different business model and organizational structure, and are imposed by the barrel of a gun, working in the guise of "the public interest."

So why does the Federal reserve have little to no oversight from the Federal Government then?
Hell, when they tried introduce a bill to audit the Fed, everyone freaked out.
