Perhaps to some degree but I would be hard pressed to say those early bouts were technical "chess matches"

You see what the majority of those fights amounted to once the bell rang? Basically just as you described, a school yard brawl in the cage and full of white trash beer bellies in the audience!

Women fight out of fear, those guys in the early cage fights had at least some composure and unique styles that suited them. when I see these women go at it its like they have the exact same kickboxercise type style that you see women in group classes using to lose weight, except their hitting opponents instead of bags. there is no defining technique, its like they're all the same.
