Good luck with the whole equality thing. It doesn't work in practice.
We are different. Embrace the differences and let folks specialize.
This whole "there shouldn't be a monopoly on opportunities" thing is bullshit leftist agenda that completely overlooks the role nature has to play in a person's phenotype, performance, intelligence, etc...
There is discrimination when it comes to opportunity. The strongest survive. The weakest die. Those most suited to the activity excel at it - it's called comparative advantage and it's as real as it gets.
Levelling the playing field is a socialist movement and I rail against that.
Do I think women should be oppressed and raped and murdered? Nope...I love women. But I think there are things men can do that women simply can't do as well, on average. Can the average woman be considered as equally qualified to act as a firefighter? No. She's not as strong, as fast, or as apt to undertake risky activity that could threaten one's life (the "scourge" of testosterone that's so villified in society) as her male counterpart. There are women who can do it, no doubt. But we can't assume that 50% of jobs as firefighters should go to women, simply because women are 50% of the population.
On the flip side, there tons of jobs to which women are better suited than men. Female marketers tend to be more successful than men, at least when it comes to productivity, an intuition to consumer behavior, and EQ. Men are far too inward-looking and apply too many biases to understand different target market behaviors, on average. So does that mean that men can't be marketers? No. It's just that we are born with certain talents that can't always be overcome with nature, and should be used to society's fullest potential. Drawing arbitrary lines is to ignore our genetic make-up.
Let's take it a step further. Should we create equality in the Olympics? Hey, whites make up about 70% or so of the American populace. It's not fair that the US Men's track team isn't at least 70% white males.
And let's do away with "women's" sports and "men's sports". 50% of all NFL teams should be female, regardless of talent.
It's a slippery slope.
And that article is a piece of trash. It humiliates and marginalizes men and belittles their feelings towards things. Haven't women learned what that feels like? Or is this a thinly veiled piece of retributive journalism from an angry Andrea Dworkin clone?
By the way, I refuse to let anyone label me. Women can kiss my ass if they think I'll fit some mold. So too can men, blacks, whites, gays, heteros, punks, mods, jocks, geeks, whatever...I'm my own man. I think we all are.
Refuse to be labelled.
I reject the feminist cause. Just as I reject the movement that would keep white males as superiors.
Folks just need to get along and do their own thing and stop bitching. Imaging how much more productive we'd all be if we stopped complaining, pissing, and moaning about who got what and who didn't get theirs.
These people bitch more about unfairness than my kids whine about bedtime and who gets to stay up later. I guess we never, really grow up do we?
