Bourbon Steak in Aventura at Turnberry.  Eat there about once every couple of months.  Miffed about their false advertising of an almost $300 "Kobe" steak. No Kobe beef is sold in the US.

It has been all bullshit about Kobe labelling in the US.  They call it Kobe style, but it's just texas beef.  Since the US doesn't regulate what they call "kobe".  True Kobe has been approved again for import into the USA.

El Bulli was the best dining experience of my life.  Went once, tried to go again and couldn't get in, even 4 mos in advance. Officially closed now.  :'(

Mortons, Ruth Chris blah, chains.  Good for those that don't understand gastronomy.

Used to eat Kobe Beef at least once a week while stationed in the Orient and it was unbelievable at $12  a serrving.

We recently found it on the  menu at one of the fine dining spots in Caesars Las Vegas, so I asked if it was the real thing and the waiter merely said, "Sorta' because he had no idea what a real Kobe steak was,

So we passed on it and the manager eventually arrived to explain that it was "Kobe STYLE" but he also had no idea what "Style" had to do with it.

It was priced by the ounce  even though it was only Kobe STYLE.

Any thoughts on this TA?

Best restaurants as I see it ..... (Should cause lots of disagreements!)

Original Joe's in San Francisco. One of the best dining spots in the city and not expensive. Every time I'm in the SF Bay Area.

Norm's throughout the LA basin. Nothing fancy but decent food at very cheap prices. Every time I'm in LA.

Ellis Island in Las Vegas .... Super cheap and decent meals. Twice a week with discount coupons and free play.

Michael's in the South Point Hotel/ Casino .... Very expensive and very good! Once!

Peppermill  in Las Vegas ....  Every couple of months.

In n Out Burgers .... The best burger of them all. (Try the Animal Fries - not on the menu.) Once or twice a month.

Back then when Jean-François Piege was at "Les Ambassadeurs" at Hotel Crillon; The Bristol restaurant a few years ago (supposedly it's even better now).
More casual: plenty of good restaurants in Paris (L'Atelier Joel Robuchon, Le Pré Verre, Jadis,......), just avoid the touristic areas and you'll be fine.

Hard to pick just one around here

In the city, Chez Spencer is a favorite.

The Duck Club at the Bodega Bay Lodge and Spa is another favorite.  Had Thanksgiving dinner there this year.

River's End is another favorite up in Jenner (Northern CA).  Amazing sunsets at this place.  8)

El Bulli is El bullshit for those that want to pay $500 for goose liver frozen in liquid nitrogen then smashed with a hammer and sprinkled over white truffle foam.  Foodies today think they are special eating baby deer kidneys wraped in wild german boar bacon witha  side of duck heart tar tar.

I have only ate at boa In LA one time but it was awesome. I also agree with the In N Out.  I ate at Lawry's in Vegas and was not impressed. Very small portion.
