Help an old bastard out

When I post pictures they appears "one on top of the other."   Sometimes I want pictures to appear "side by side."   What is my problem?

When you insert the picture, just immediately after the first one insert the second.

you cannot do this with uploaded pics.  Must be linked pics.  I just tried.
