x2
I listened to VH for the Music...Roth was a clown. he was charismatic and a joker, but he was a weak singer and didn't write lyrics with any substance.
The Hagar years were the same only different IMO...better singer, but zero personality or lyrical content.,,and he looked like a toad
They both had their moments, but early VH rules because Roth was just a cooler dude, and Eddie was a beast in his younger years. he was a riff monster and his solos were unreal, and he had such a sick tone. But after a while every swinging dick sounded like him and it was played out.
which sucks for him because aside from the hammering on stuff, Eddie was an amazing, creative guitar player with a jillion musical ideas running through his head..... he was a victim of his own sound because he was so influential that every guitar player on the planet tried to imitate him, and after a while they got pretty good at it
