That happened to me once. I thought my wisdom tooth was impacted. I was in college so I scheduled an appointment with my dentist. He sent a script for an antibiotic that I took. Evidently, I had eaten popcorn and one of the skins of the kernel got stuck in my gum and caused an infection. I looked like Rocky Dennis for a day with the swelling.

Dude go to the dentist ASAP. You need a root canal. I had the same shit happen about a year ago. I had a filling on a molar that the root was decaying on the inside. The filling causes the swelling becuase the tooth cant drain or something like that.
