Hitler a democrat... not so sure. My father was a kid when Hitler took power and the dude was sneaky as hell. Children used to greet each other saying "Grüss Gott and Guten Morgen" at the assembly preceding school - after Hitler took power it was "Heil Hitler" all of a sudden - no warning, all tricks, just socio fix.

I want this story made into a movie. Ex-Dean of St. John’s, on Trial for Stealing Over $1 Million, Is Found Dead at Homehttp://www.nytimes.com/2012/12/11/nyregion/a-quick-descent-for-cecilia-chang-dean-at-st-johns.html?hpw&_r=0The woman barely speaks English (she lived in the US since 1975) yet she becomes a Dean at the University. She tired to have her first husband murdered (he did die from the wounds); she used scholarship money to bring foreign students to the school then makes them do menial labor--including washing her underwear by hand--or she will take away their scholarships; she takes $250,000 from a Saudi prince to organize academic conferences that never happened; she raises millions from the school often from shady characters in Taiwan; she lives in a $1.7 million Tudor-style house with seven bedrooms, maid quarters, stone fireplaces and soaring ceilings with skylights; she gets reimbursed for $350,000 in purported business expenses a year, more than any other employee; she has an affair with the University President Father Cahill (a priest); she gambled away tens of thousands of dollars in university money at the casino--even loaning as much as $30k to other gamblers! She testifies at her own trial, rambling in a way that made jurors laugh... and it all ends in her suicide! Talk about drama!

Someone should get on board with a creative non-fiction rendering of: Le Grand Guignol of Ivory Tower Tiger LadyKahn likey , but it will probably find legs in something like a CSI or Law & Order CI TV production.

Umberto Eco's Foucault's Pendulum. Before his death, Stanley Kubrick was interested in this project.

"One Colonel Ardenti, who has unnaturally black, brilliantined hair, a carefully groomed mustache, wears maroon socks, and who once served in the Foreign Legion, starts it all. He tells three Milan book editors that he has discovered a coded message about a Templar Plan, centuries old and involving Stonehenge - a plan to tap a mystic source of power far greater than atomic energy. The editors, who have spent altogether too much time rewriting crackpot manuscripts on the occult by fanatics and dilettante, decide to have a little fun. They'll create a Plan of their own. But how? Randomly they throw together manuscript pages on hermetic thought: The Masters of the World, who live beneath the earth. The Comte de Saint-Germain, who lives forever. They add Satanic initiation rites of the Kings of the Temple, Assassins, Rosicrucians, Brazilian voodoo, the Third Reich. And they feed all this, and much more, into their powerful computer. Abulafia. A terrific joke, they think, until the Plan assumes a life and power of its own, and turns deadly - as people mysteriously begin to disappear, one by one, starting with Colonel Ardenti."

Not faggy like Dan Brown's tripe. Not gritty n cool. Although it's smart and funny, it's not aimed at a mass audience. It can be enjoyed by a mass audience, but it's really aimed at a hypereducated, lit-crit readership that is at home in a lot of post-modern theory (they'll get all the highfalutin gags). Like I said, Kubrick was interested in the film project before he passed. Here's a very reductive summary: bullshit very often takes on a life of its own.
