How is this any different from the lockouts that people have to have put on their cars AFTER they've been convicted of driving drunk?

what we are headed for are cars like in iRobot, fully automated and do the driving for you, no training or anything required. And as such, the car is "responsible" for the well being of the "driver" and passenger.

there is talk about two diff types of licenses, one for those who do their own driving, and one for those who do not.

No worries dude as a failed industrial engineer, I can tell you, that removing steering wheels makes the ride much more intolerable.

Anyhow I this shit is a long way coming, insurance rates are fucking insane, I'd take a nanny state driving device if it meant I never have to waste money on insurance.

It's almost comical how few people understand this. It's not just simply a matter of us affording the gas, it's that urban environment thrive, even in times of economic hardship.  While less dense areas cough cough, vegas, phoenix, don't.
