I dunno how "aesthetic" Ray was. He was kind of a mini mass monster really.

you mean Flavio? And Shockwave, I agree, you could see that Ray, if he wanted too, could play the mass game, to an extent.

I thought he had to stop after a certain point when size began to overtake asthetics. I think he pushed it as far as he dared but didnt take it overboard.

Yeah buddy. Labrada was another guy who refused to play the size game and got out. Shawn tried to hang on a bit longer but he was never going to take the top spot based on ifbb judging with preferehce to size. Dorain started the mutant generation.

Evn arnold kept in check. Rember his line in pumping iron where he said everything is now perfect and h was going to focus mostly on the presentation rather than gaining size.

Dorain started the mutant generation. Labrada tried to add a bit more size. In his last contest (I think it was the 1995 Arnold Classic?) he looked just a little bit different - his physique didn't have that flare compared to before. Fortunately, he got out in time and became, I think, a millionaire... I blame the judges for everything. Because of them, Ronnie is now the 'greatest bodybuilder ever'.
