What do we know about how crazed shooters get guns?

We know that the Arizona Tech shooter had an extensive history of mental problems  and managed to purchase guns without any problem.

We know that the Newtown shooter obtained his guns from his mother, with whom he lived. According to whichever report you choose to believe, he was mentally troubled and his mother was afraid to leave him alone.

We know that the Aurora shooter purchased 5-6 guns over the course of two months, while simultaneously purchasing a veritable military-grade stockpile of ammunition and body armor.

But, yep, this is the point I"m getting at. It's a problem. A real problem. Not an imaginary problem or a political problem. And it's not limited to mentally unstable people. Gun violence is a real issue.

How you got from Aurora shooter wasn't properly diagnosed -> Gun violence is a real issue is beyond me.

Maybe we should focus on enforcing the existing laws and worry about the PEOPLE getting them, rather than the guns themselves and the ensuing violence after they have already acquired them.

Treat the problem, not the symptom goddammit. If someone had done something about the mental condition these people, this never would have happened. And there was plenty of clues that both of them were on the edge of lunacy. Hell it came out now that this kids mother was considering having him committed.

the problem you seem to miss is that guns are not inherintly bad. Gun violence is an expression of a problem not THE PROBLEM!!!

Whether of not the son had been diagnosed with any mental problems  (the information Shockwave mentioned isn't really reliable) is still a matter of debate, but one would be limiting gun access to those with severe mental problems living in their household.
