NRA Responds To Sandy Hook Massacre
« on: December 18, 2012, 04:48:02 PM »
Public opinion is hot right now. No Repubs stepped forward to do the Sunday shows and we'll see how it plays out this weekend. President couldn't NOT back anti-gun legislation, even if he wanted to. NRA will hold press conference this Friday. Will probably mostly non-committal issue dodging, but we'll have to wait and see.

WASHINGTON -- The National Rifle Association on Tuesday said it was prepared to offer "meaningful contributions" to ensure that events such as the massacre of 20 children and 6 adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., "never happen again."

The NRA said it planned to hold a major news conference on Friday, but did not say what it would announce.

The statement from the nation's largest pro-gun lobbying group was issued to members of the media after four days of total silence following the mass murder. During that time, the NRA has become a focal point for criticism from those who support stronger gun control laws. Members of Congress have said they plan to propose new laws on the first day of the next session of Congress in January.

Quote
National Rifle Association of America is made up of four million moms and dads, sons and daughters –- and we were shocked, saddened and heartbroken by the news of the horrific and senseless murders in Newtown.
Out of respect for the families, and as a matter of common decency, we have given time for mourning, prayer and a full investigation of the facts before commenting.

The NRA is prepared to offer meaningful contributions to help make sure this never happens again.
 ???

The NRA is planning to hold a major news conference in the Washington, DC area on Friday, December 21.

They are gonna donate a gun to every student on the school.
That way they can defend themselves.
Problem solved.

Lol sounds about eight whork   or money for behavior health programs.  Certainly won't be support of tighter gun laws.

.....he asked the question...come on libs answer it. No, figures. Conn has very strict gun laws. All the weapons were registered. The shool had security. The kid was denied buying a gun earlier in the week. Instead of worring about the guns, try and figure out why this kid was a wackjob.

I don't think any particular gun laws could have helped, but at the same time what you are doing (outright dismissing something by saying that we needn't worry about it) seems somewhat silly. While it's true that guns are just tools and the weapon, by itself, would not kill anyone, we should worry about guns and we should examine every aspect of this to see, whether there was something - anything - that was missed that would have prevented this from happening.

The more i read on this - it seems more like a case of bad parenting and recklessness by the mother.

Yup, mom should have gotten him into bodybuilding instead of taking him to the gun range.
