There is laveyan satanism, read about it. Satanism in its theistic form is pure bullshit, for obvious reasons. Believing in any form of diety to the point that you want to hurt others in the name of it is insanity, regardless of what that diety would be - allah, god, satan, same old bullshit.

It's irrelevant, bottom line is he did what he did because he was a crazy ass modafaka. If you hurt others it has nothing to do with what you believe in, it's either your natural instinct or it's not. I would never hurt anybody, even though I sometimes imagine doing it not because it's against my moral code - I have no moral code, it's just not in my nature. I run from fight, I don't hurt anyone even when I can and want to. When I hurt someone emotionally I feel terrible about it. Again - not because there is something I believe in, some sort of conscious morality I follow, it hurts me like it would hurt me if I got bitten by a dog.

^^ This is a good post and points out an interesting human quality.  The need to marginalize the atrocities of people.  Making them outside the spectrum of 'normal' human intereaction is a facade to give the herd a sense of security.  The truth is this is a planet of walking wounded people and we're all scared to admit the atrocities that committed aren't an abstraction of human works but a deeply connected part of the human experience.

Agreed, if the average person wasn't capable of murder or even mass murder, their would be no armies.  I know of many times people have threatened to kill other people, friends, family, workmates etc. hell, In a fit of rage I have threatened to KILL people, only to calm down and realise how I wouldn't do it, but it's a fine line, and who knows, if ease of access to high powered weapons was handy, things could be different.  I think it has less to do with mental illness, and more to do with being young, impulsive and incredibly fucking rage filled. That kid Adam has a lot of characteristics of someone who was abused. The fact that he never talked to anyone and the mother was ok with that should raise some questions. I'm also not buying that the Feds cant get anything off his computer. Unless the thing was melted in a fire, they would be able to gather info off it.
