Deadlifts  were all shit.

Bench was good. If not a bit light.

Squats were bad form but green lights and good poundage

All and all I give him 3 dildos up

What do you mean? I would rate the bench maybe a bit higher than the rest.

Nah, you will also have to take into account the style he squats with. It's a parallel, low bar squat/good morning combo. And take into account the style of benching and structure.

I would rate his bench higher than the squat. He doesn't have the best structure for benching. Him benching 450 in that style would be insane.

Also remember that he tore his pec and had surgery.

 he was doing benches with reverse bands with terrible form and his bb.com minions kept egging him on with 'awesome strength bro' posts, until he put too much weight on the bar and tore his shit trying to cheat it up for youtube


his bench is what, 350lbs? Not exactly impressive but poor responders usually seem to have weaker upper bodies and more leg/deadlift strength than guys with a good aas response.

That's hardly unusual for powerlifters. Taller powerlifters tend to be great deadlifters but lousy benchers.  Shorter powerlifters are often great benchers but not-so-great deadlifters.

It's dangerous and maybe stupid but it's so much fun. After you've stood up with 600-700-800lbs going to safe workouts and pumping it doesn't even feel like you trained.

My body is a mess but I will lift heavy until I'm in a wheelchair or stop altogether. :D

I think I read somewhere that Ronnie said, after asked if he would have changed anything, that he would have lifted more weight! :D Maybe false bravado after the fact. OTOH Yates said he would have been more careful pre-contest.

oh the natural boy who grows into shows is going bald, who wouldve thought.

he doesnt care, he competes as a powerlifter as well, number is the ultimate goal there.

btw bashing weightlifters for doing something "stupid and dangerous" sounds very weird when you abuse steroids... it's just as dangerous, just in different way. yes, there are tons of weightlifters and powerlifters who got away with it. going for max is only before competition, NO POWERLIFTER trains like that all year long. most of the time they are working hard on their technique, using much, much lower weights and slowly building them up to their max for 3+ reps.

layne has to do shit he does (goodmorning-style squat) because his structure sucks donkey balls for squats. i have even more respect for the guy because my structure is perfect for squats and still he outsquats me by a 100kg.
