I havent read this thread but I was about to respond in kind, gun violence is high in america, canada, right above you for example has way way lower violent crime rates and gun murders. I can't even recall the last shoot em up, whereas the states have them periodically.

To me what is happening to many black Americans sounds and looks a lot like what happened to the Jews in Germany: Being pushed into gettos, marginalized from society, being incarcerated at much higher rates than everyone else (even though it has been proven that blacks are as likely to commit a crime as anyone else), et cetera.

I think the USA learned a lot from Hitler and his reign of terror. Mainly that repression is more effective when carried out in a low-key, gradual manner. And this is what is going on right now.

I think the USA learned a lot from Hitler and his reign of terror. Mainly that repression is more effective when carried out in a low-key, gradual manner. And this is what is going on right now.

That's been going on for the last 300 years... since even before they called it the USA, but as in every other society in which this was the MO, the privileged class has always either never noticed, or turned a blind eye, ...until they began to see "mission creep" ...by which time it was too late.

Personally, I'm of the opinion that armed guards or cops or whatever armed authoritarian force that is put in schools will not keep kids safe from a whack job on a mission. The only purpose it will serve is to condition kids for at least 13 years to having armed authority figures overseeing them. While I'm no psychologist, I'm doubtful this type of mental conditioning will lead to the type of next generation most people want to see.

Everyone doesnt need a gun but if youre not a felon, mentally ill and you are of age why should you not be allowed to have one if you want one?

The problem isnt guns, guns are not inherintly evil.

You guys seem to jump right over the problem and focus on guns. If you dont address the problem at the root then it will simply find another way to manifest itself.
