45 dead in worst coldest winter in russia in 70 years GLOBAL WARMING??

Russia is enduring its harshest winter in over 70 years, with temperatures plunging as low as -50 degrees Celsius. Dozens of people have already died, and almost 150 have been hospitalized.

The country has not witnessed such a long cold spell since 1938, meteorologists said, with temperatures 10 to 15 degrees lower than the seasonal norm all over Russia.

Across the country, 45 people have died due to the cold, and 266 have been taken to hospitals. In total, 542 people were injured due to the freezing temperatures, RIA Novosti reported.

The Moscow region saw temperatures of -17 to -18 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, and the record cold temperatures are expected to linger for at least three more days. Thermometers in Siberia touched -50 degrees Celsius, which is also abnormal for December.

Um nobody is or should be denying global warming. The issue is that is it man made or part of earths natural cycle.

in the mid 1980's "experts" were forcasting another ice age, now it's global warming. I have no doubt that one of these will happen again because the earth goes in cycles. man has very little to do with it or can do about it. which means, nothing we do will change a damn thing.

No shit . . . here in Halifax we had a bit of snow last night but +5 to +10 prior to that with temps being projected above zero for weeks. THE BEEF can recall the  3 1/2 week period every mid Jan into Feb where it was -30 and below for the entire period. The weather is changing.

I remember hearing that they dig a hole and put up a "camp fire" under these huge military machines to keep them running  :o As after all, military must operate no matter the weather.
Same with earthmovers etc. in the mines in Siberia.

Some say that the newer measurements aren't reliable since the warmer readings are being measured since many of the measuring stations world wide were taken out of service.

Weather operates in cycles. Remember we only have records of our weather from a few hundred years. The weather cycles in tens of thousands of years, so 200 years of weather history is like 1 second to the Earth's natural cycle. There is no doubt that humans have altered the Earth's atmosphere to a large degree, however i think many people are just ignorant to how the Earth operates to begin with. Remember most of the coastal regions have been under 20-30 feet of water more than once in millions of years. What we consider "normal" today was a death sentence for organisms a few million years ago.

I just know how it feels to serve in -30 and can imagine a bit how it is when it's -50. Not a single yankee-machine would even utter in those conditions.

About laughing... umm, I don't see any reason; we are the best of the best according to almost every international study and surpassed the "other" scanidic nations in very short time.
Consider that they are hundreds of years old countries and we surpassed them in few decades in every level  :-\
