« on: December 26, 2012, 05:15:25 PM »
i remember i used to get that rednose look. i noticed in some of my older pics around the time i stopped eating meat, perhaps this was a sign of the heme-iron accumulation in my cells

I've been lifting weights since I was 13 and became a Vegetarian 2 years ago and it has had no negative effect on my muscle mass. I can still easily get about 150-200 grams of protein per day but the main difference now, as a vegetarian, is that I have much less body fat and much more energy. Also, after I eat I never feel sluggish or fatigued or stuffed no matter how much I eat. I get about 2,000 calories per day at 190lbs.

No. Not at all. The thought of it now makes me sick once you realize where it comes from. I became a vegetarian because I don't believe in causing an animal to die just so I can eat their meat, especially in the horrible factory farms that exist today which treat animals like objects and not living thinking feeling beings that they are. The more time I spent around the types of animals that I used to eat, cows, chickens, pigs, the more I realized that these animals are no different in personality or intelligence than cats or dogs and often even smarter.

i can agree entirely regarding those rancid factory farms.

i like meat though, and though i have cut back somewhat recently (cost mainly, plus i eat a lot of tuna), i don't think i could give up eating meat altogether as i do like a steak for tea on leg day  :P

good for you for having some principles though mate..! i bet giving up meat is much like stopping smoking in that you'll always get silly bastards trying to get you to start up again with constant comments and bewilderment as to why you dare be different from them/ the 'norm'  ::)
