I know..

What was I thinking!?!

It's not as if Junior Dos Santos has ever beaten Cain in a definitive fashion, say by possibly knocking him out seconds into the first round of a fight.

Who knows what will happen..

it was a flash knockdown

it was the GNP that actually KOd Velasquez, a good shot behind the ear. Happened to randy, gsp,etc...

The point is that to assume that Dos Santos wouldn't be capable of defeating Cain again is more than just a little farfetched...

Besides the fact that he beat Cain before, you also have to consider that while he lost their recent match (Cain certainly deserved the win and dominated in all 5 rounds), Dos Santos survived all the way to the judges decision and took a beating like very few can.

That said, if Dos Santos were to bring his best striking game to a rematch and apply serious takedown defense (one of the things he is known for), you can very easily have Dos Santos taking his belt back.

My bad I read flash KO.

Anyway ,what is the difference between a knockdown and a flash knockdown ?

Not even remotely close to his very best.

I've seen all of Dos Santos' fights and he has brought way better stand-up in the past.

I think that come time for a rematch (if Overeem doesn't have his way with Cain first), Junior will take his belt back.

I think JDS was 100% ,he got hurt in the 1st round and  he never fully recovered , you can't win a fight in survival mode.

Happy new year handsome!

I guess we will all have to see come rematch time.  Personally, I think that if Cain manages to step into the ring with Overeem that his days as heavyweight champion will be permanently over.

A champion K-1 fighter with better ground game that anyone else in the heavyweight division (with the exception of Mir) will be hard to defeat.

i and most people would be out cold from that shot in the first round.   and he took several legitimate knockout blows through the five rounds.

it's easy to question why he wasn't trying harder, but if you've ever been close to knocked out, you know it takes awhile to get your speed and wits back

Werdum's ground game is first class, but I do think Cain would edge him out if standing.

If you look at Werdum's record, he has only lost 5 matches in the past.  He lost once to Overeem and once to Dos Santos (via TKO).  Based on Cain's recent performance, his striking alone would overwhelm Werdum imo.

Either way, I still believe Overeem would easily dominate the heavyweight division.

the fight was decided like that last one

with one big punch

when these big guys get in the ring it can become a lottery

cain versus dos santos could go either way every time they fight

i think dos santos is a better fight for overeem just based on styles

I think JDS didn't know where he was after that first punch.  He probably doesn't remember anything after that punch.  Why the fuck didn't JDS put his hands up?  Afraid of the takedown?  Cain wasn't doing shit on the ground besides one elbow and that punch in that pic.

JDS will comeback stronger and ready for those takedowns and hopefully keep his hands up in the rematch.  Overeem would destroy JDS but Cain would probably wrestle fuck him.
