I saw Dillet compete several times, including the Arnold Classic where his body locked up. To me was so much more impressive in pictures. On stage he couldn't hold a pose, and when he went back to the lineup he would be bent over sucking air. To this day I have no idea how he could put any intensity into a workout. Also saw him a few times before the show wearing an Adidas sweatsuit, dressed like this he looked like a jacked basketball player.
there was a story about Flex, and it was back in 93, Flex was bent over, and asked Lee Haney how'd he do it, and Lee Haney pointed to Lee Lebrada, and said, "ask him", or something to that effect.
Basically, it was about practicing posing and breathing, something Dillet didn't do. And he played in the CFL!

The biggest/freakiest bodybuilder I've ever seen in person .
He was a big freak but far from the biggest I have ever seen in person myself.
Paul was impressive standing there on stage.
He was big, thick and wide with full round muscles.
BUT: 1. he couldn't pose to save his life   2. His back was lacking and had a terrible back double bi for a pro.
3. He could never get it together for the biggest contests    4. He was constantly getting cramps on stage and
couldn't control his fulids in many contests he entered.

Paul is a much better pro then ol' Victor Richards who never even did a pro contest.
At least Pual gave it a go and tries to promote his own contests in Canada.

I look fwd to buying and reading his book.

and he apparently didn't squat. All leg presses, leg extensions, and hack squats

I can say wilth compete confidence, that from 1991 - 1997 At Gold's Venice I never saw Paul in the squat rack one single time.

Extensions, Leg press, single leg leg presss, reverse leg press, one leg standing leg curls, dumbell step-ups- but never ever squats. Lots of volume. Light - medium weights. Never locked anything out. Very "poor" form and very litttle control of the weights ever. (I don't mean that in a negative way)   He would look around and appear to be day dreaming.

Standing relaxed from the front he was Mr Olympia. As Tommy said his legs were some of the best ever. Probably the best ever on a taller bodybuilder.

Paul was a little out there with his workouts but whatever he did worked for him. Still one of the freakiest of all time. Funny bloke as well.

Truth.  In 1994 (I think) Mike Mentzer was talking about training hard and making a comeback. He was talking to Paul and me and telling us his plans. We both agreed that it sounded like a good idea and we were excited to watch him get in bodybuilding shape again. Mike concluded by telling us that he would be in "Tip fucking top" shape when the time was right, "Tip fucking top!!"

For months after that, when Paul would walk into the gym he would swing by and find me and tell me that he was not to be disturbed while he was training because he had to get in "Tip fucking Top" shape to beat the competition.

That makes all the more incredible that he built those fucking legs and upper body, from no squatting and shitty work ethic! "Freak"

Paul had freak everything, but a back that wouldn't separate at all. His rear double bicep pose was terrible. He looked great in the magazines but not so much on video. The man could not hold a pose for more then a split second. A super hyper responder to the gear. His book should be a fun read.

ppl always criticize Nasser for having a "weak" back but Dillet's really was weak-
no seperation and no thickness @ all

also, Paul was not one for physical confrontation , for eg, when Sonny Schmidt challenged Paul in germany-
Sonny smashed Paul's radio in the gym and Paul walked out of the gym after that

Almost true.

It was where they were staying, Sonny asked him nicely to turn it down as it was pissing him off having to listen to loud crappy music. He asked him again, no result, so he then picked it up and smashed it to pieces. Problem solved.

Him and Paul were cool after that.

I was training there with Sonny in '91 and we would watch Dillet train dumbfounded. He would do like 10 dips then talk shit for 10 mins, then maybe a set of pushdowns, poor form, 10 more mins rest,WTF?

We had a theory that he did this to put everyone off their game and probably had a membership somewhere else.

HIn the gym he was the freakiest thing we had ever seen. From another planet.
