And yet the far left will continue to vote for Democrats, so it is useless to pander to them.  Who else are they going to vote for?  The Green Party candidate?  Ralph Nader?  Republicans should follow the same strategy without trying to pander to its major voting constituents, such as libertarians, the Religious Right, and party-line Repubs.
