Anisonian died on February 8th, 2012, in Moscow when his Bentley Continental was hit by a large truck that ran a red light. According to the plaintiff, Anisonian could have survived the accident had the side curtain airbags deployed.
"Since the accident, we have run several tests that all conclude the strong impact should have set off the car's side curtain airbags," said the plaintiff's lawyers in a statement.
Bentley responded to the accusation by clearly saying that it denies all blame and that it is fully cooperating with Russian authorities. The automaker added that it takes safety very seriously and that all of its vehicles comply with the strictest crash test norms in the world.
A hearing has been scheduled for January 14th, 2013. In order to win the lawsuit, the widow will need to prove that her husband's death was caused by a faulty component in the Bentley's airbag system and that driver error was not involved. That will be an uphill battle as sources close to the case quietly admit that Anisonian's Continental was traveling at a very high rate of speed when the accident occurred.
