Mike was a sickly looking old man in his 40's. Same with Ray. Watch some of the tapes toward the end of their life. They walk like they are 75 years old. I know Ray had serious kidney problems and maybe both had serious heart disease.

I was noticing the same thing in this video series. He and his brother seemed alot older than their age. R.I.P.

I met him at Gold's in the mid-90's when I was staying in LA for a few months, he actually asked me if I smoked and I said no- he went outside and smoked a Marlboro red!!  Not kidding.

What I'm going to say is from the Heart- Unfortunately, no.  I was just out of the military, and just returned from fighting in Bosnia- I was lean and 170lb or so, I wasn't lifting heavy like now.  I easily could have organized it at the time, he was actively training guys that day!  I sort of was just SHOCKED to have actually met him, and then JUST AS SHOCKED to see him outside smoking... guess it was my time for my "revelation" that Bodybuilding was not all about healthy living- shook me up big time, seriously....
P.S.  One of the FEW pros/amateurs I actually met, other than Shawn Ray, Cormier, Charles Glass, Boyer Coe, Dennis Tinerino

thats video serious is funny and is disturbing as shit. one of the clips shows him and his brother outside smoking their asses off, and the producer or director begging them to come in the gym and keep filming cause time is money. and they dont even give a fuck. its quite funny, goes to show you those guys lived on their own terms.

here it is

What is even MORE ironic, as the SAME night they finished the last tape, Mike died.  They were really on borrowed time, and I actually feel the director "knew it".

Mike has like no grey hair or wrinkles. He seems more like his back was f'd up and that he wasn't feeling that well. Ray looks worse.
