Which path to choose? An abstract question.
« on: February 02, 2013, 05:43:30 PM »
You have the "tried and true" (aka "conventional") route. No surprises...but you can fill your belly at will and end the endless "hunting" for something better.

You have the "risky" route -- its all you ever wanted, but it blow up in your face at any time and you could be left broke. However, if the "risky" route paid off, you'd be happier beyond your wildest dreams. Not so the conventional route.

It's a one time shot and you'll have to die with your decision.

What's the Getbigger play here?
The answer is "yes".

depends what your long-term goals are... and your current situation.

if you're 20.... GO FOR IT and take the risk.

If you're 38 with kids to put thru college, stick with the safe route while you're responsible for them.

Those are wise words. And the fact that I want to disagree with them tells me where my heart lies.  :o

I`d have to know more specifics before making a calculated move.  The payoff at each end would also have to be known in order to determine which route best to take.  You may be able to play both sides of the coin and take the best of each approach to exceed your goal.  I need more information.

True Conservatism (the kind that rarely has been displayed) used to mean playing it safe and having a well thought out plan before advancing, never being too rash in the decision making process.   :-\

Whats the use of living if you are unhappy?

If I'm unhappy but my sons are provided for....that's a factor in the equation. If I had no kids, this thread wouldn't exist.'

Both paths provide for my sons..but only one path (the first) provides for them long term  (at the expense of being happy)
The answer is "yes".

Your first obligation is to your children above yourself I believe.  That is only fair in my opinion.

Given. Say may children are provided for in both paths.

What would you pick?

Is there anyway to use the best of both approaches to any degree?  Combine the two or try one for a period of time, then the other?

Not as such, no.

Given the stark choice of one path, or the other...what would you choose?
The answer is "yes".

Are your children provided for adequately enough with both paths?  One moreso than the other?

Yes, in all paths. They have more "stuff" than most children dream of.
