Best non whey protein powder?
« on: February 12, 2013, 03:09:14 PM »
I am lactose intolerant and I can't drink whey, any good tips?

I tried pea protein from whole foods and I almost threw up, same with rice protein and hemp protein

Most of the egg ones have stevia and duct oldies which I also don't want

Any tips?

I know, but sometimes a scoop of powder is much more efficient!  Especially when trying to down 6-8 meals

Not all whey will have lactose in it. Mostly it's the shittier/cheaper brands.

I've recommended Beverly Nutriton's U.M.P. to a few friends who are LI as well and they have had nothing but good things to say. IMO its the best protein blend on the market. Also the Only kind I know of that's pharmaceutical grade and used in hospitals (in the Kentucky area.)

I love that stuff

I don't really tolerate dairy that well and have no problems with UMP

One of my good buddies is a prep coach, he's had tons of clients on UMP and never had a single gut issue. He himself has irritable bowel syndrome, and UMP is the only stuff that doesn't make him shit his brains out. Plus it tastes fkn great.

"Pharmaceutical grade whey"... come on now. Don't tell me BI actually says this themselves?

Beef protein ... LOL, just a collagen powder. Fraudulent advertising.

Maybe that's not the correct term? But manufactured for and approved for use in medical hospitals (see: Kentucky).  I thought "pharmacy grade protein supplementation" was correct.

Beverly is made down the street road from me in. It tastes good because they mix it with cake batter. They use it in hospitals around here because its a local company and they get better prices. It it also overpriced as hell. Hope this helps.

Overpriced?  ::)

Can you give me an example of a comparable macro label with a similar protein blend?

I opened this thread solely to find out when the first semen reference was made.

Most whey powders have almost no lactose. So, I don't get that one.

With that said, Carnivor is pretty good; but, it's WAAAAY too pricey. Unless you can get it on clearance, I wouldn't buy it.

GNC Soy Protein 95 is another good one. I got a 4-lb jug for $12.50 late last year. It lasted me over a month.

GNC's 100% Casein Protein is also a good buy. I got that on clearance for about $13.

GNC a couple weeks ago had a HUGE pile of clearence items.  I got ON natural Whey 5 lbs for $14.99.  they had 4 and bought them. I looked like an idiot walking through the mall holding 4-5 pound tubs of whey, but it was a steal.
