I was debating this with my friend the other day and neither of us could really give a definitive answer. Both are obvious first ballot hall of famers who won a championship.

So let's say only one was allowed in the HOF, which one gets in first?

I'd have to go with Dirk. Much more unique and better at what he did. a 7 footer that can shoot from anywhere.

Both were great for so many years. Dirk was a great clutch player but Pierce was one of the best clutch assassin's I have ever seen in my generation. Both were in the playoffs mostly every year. Teammates were about equal so I guess that's a wash. Both excellent shooters.

Paul Pierce was great but Dirk was one of a kind. Nobody ever did what he did at 7 feet. Something tells me if Dallas had to do over that draft again they would stick with the German.

They should do every other player now and for the rest of time a favor and not compare them to Jordan. They are just gonna look foolish compared to Micheal Jeffery Jordan.

The real impressive thing about Jordan to me is that pro basketball is a young man's game. He came back after being out of the league for almost two years and still dominated it while being well into his 30s.

He was probably on PED but they all were

Which is why I can't stand people who only can dunk, or can't do free throws...you have to have a complete "game", when one skill set demenishes, you can rely on the other.

He was also the most successful overseas player we have seen, and a big reason for the game's growth in Europe. He led his team to a championship, Pierce was second,aunt third, fiddle in the original "big three". Pierce is an obvious HOFer, but no way over Dirk.

Just Dallas' record since Dirk has been there speaks volumes. Over the past decade they have consistently played .600 to .700 ball and were consistently going deep in the playoffs.
