Immigrants don't have to completely conform but must have respect for customs, laws and traditions, want to be there and try to generally assimilate.  Not trying to make the new country look like their old one.  Some areas of London (east London) and Paris look more like the middle east than Europe.  What bothers me is when confrontational radical middle eastern leaders try to force Sharia law into the new community, that is completely unacceptable.
Diversity in the sense that not everyone needs to look the same, act the same way in their homes or have the same religious beliefs but need to respect the customs of that country.

Red Hook, I agree.  Diversity is very acceptable to me as long as immigrants don't try to impose their will, culture, strict religions and laws upon the country they immigrate too.  True, seems like there are a good # from the middle east that don't want to assimilate, which is unreasonable.  If you go to live in a new country you should be expected to have respect for that country's rules, laws and cultural traditions and want to be there or else stay where you are.

Respectfully, you Brits have to get a bit tougher on immigrants trying to change your land if you want to preserve the good and historical parts of England.  Its not about being all white or whatever bullshit, it is about making an expectation of assimilation and respect for your country and its traditions.  The US has similar problems too but we were always a melting pot.

We are generally tough on immigrants, but only when we are around our mates and out of earshot of anyone else.
