I trained legs this afternoon at 16.00 and there was around 25-30 people in the gym, not one other person was training legs, all half wit thick spotty teens with their hands down their underpants (when they are not texting someone) training chest and arms.

I don't speak or interact with anyone, not even the gym owner or staff.
In,train and home.
I only use that gym because its two minutes down the road.
love training legs. I know every piece of equipment I wanna use will be free lol!

I tink they should have a gym for advanced trainers... people who know what they are doing... If i ever open a gym that would be the kind of gym id run.. if you want to talk on your cell while doing curls or do 30 sets of cable crossovers.. get your fucking ass to a leisure or fitness gym

your gym would last all of about 6 months until it is swallowed up by a nameless fitness center

How about guys that only bench and curl? You know the guy that benches 4 times a week and they actually have a good bench but they couldn't dead lift what they bench.  They always want to know what you bench so they can tell you what they bench. I always tell them I don't bench at all when I work out. I don't have a clue what I bench and I don't think it's a very good exercise.

How about hat guy. It's 75 degrees in the gym and your sweating like a pig but your styling in that knit hat that probably smells like a sock on a dead guy decomposing in the sun.

How about giant set guy. The guy is using two benches and three machines at the same time.

How about dancing and singing guy. Actually I find this funny when a guy with an Ipod starts singing and dancing.

I realize this is all negative. Next time it will be positive things in the gym.

I dont agree man...
people will pay for standards if i knoew there gym with requirements for only advanced trainer i would so gladly pay triple price to the one I go to full of dumb kids who do 30 sets of bench press and cable cross overs... id pay for a gym with proper gym etiquette, and so would a lot of people .. once people know there is an requirement they will want to see why there is one...

yes aside from when you have a donkey doing barbell curls in the rack

but usually for me.. the heviest dumbells are free, deadlift station free and the chinning bar is always 100% free

Real bodybuilding gyms are really rare today. Planet Fitness type gyms are exploding all over the place. It makes more sense to have members who join and don't show up. In the late 70's and early 80's women in the gym were a really rare thing. Now it seems it's almost 50%.  Some gyms it's even more. Back it the day bodybuilding was more popular. Now MMA type dojos seem to be the big thing now.

Now MMA type shadowboxing dojos in the middle of the free weight area seem to be the big thing now.

Sadly, I've actually seen dudes shadow box "spar" in between sets

I agree but there is still a niche for serious gym goers who will pay for a good gym....
it infuriates me sometimes to train and see some of the stupidity  where i train..
for instance after a heavy chest session free weights, 1 out of 6 times i will want to finish with cable crossovers., only to go there and see a 140lb young man and ask how many sets left to get an answer of 18 sets.... when this guy probably couldnt do 20 press ups... you have to laugh and walk away. people like this should go to fitness gyms...IMO london has a serious shortage of proper gyms with proper cliental ... back in the day amoron like that wouldnt walk into a hardcore gym...

1. The guy that sits in the leg extension machine for 6 sets with three minute breaks in between.

2. The guy that ties up the pulley doing tricep extensions while he holds a conversation during the set with his buddy. If you're not going to even try to put in some effort get out of the gym.

3. The delusional guy who puts 900lbs on the leg press machine and does little knee bends. He walks away leaving the plates on it.

4. When you ask a girl if you can work in and she automatically assumes you're hitting on her. She smiles a smug smile and says, no.

5. Guys who are full of unwanted training advice in the gym.

6. Delusional man who half reps everything with the biggest weights. He really thinks he's strong. Couldn't lift 225lbs over head from the floor. Yet half reps 500lbs in the squat. Half reps 130lbs dumbbells in the incline press. Deadlifts in the cage so the bar can start just below his knee with 500lbs when he couldn't budge 400lbs off the ground.

7. MMA guy. Wears Affliction and Tap out shirts and shadow boxing in between sets. If you look his way he mean mugs you.

8. Hang out guy. He's in the gym every time you go but he never appears to lift anything. Every 10 minutes you might see him do something. Just weird.

9. Smelly guy. Sometimes he's the same guy that runs to spot you in the bench with his balls over your head. Bud, go away, I would rather get pinned with the weight.

10. Personal trainer type guys telling hot girls what to do when they didn't ask for any help. Guy, she is of your league.

so tre so true
great post

similar to number 8- the guy whjo comes to the gym to socialise and talk to everybody

i go to a gym to train not to socialise!!!
go to a bar or reastaraunt ro ae if you want to socialise

haha thats a good question, theres no weight declrared on them, theyre welded by hnad, haha, but theyre terrific, trust me ;D

i have there seen a guy who i was laughing at first sight, called him ali g, bc he had this funny hat and same face.

was thin, trained with much motivation and drive, though, and some 3 months of anadrol and some test later, ran into him again, he dwarfed and outleaned me, i coulndt believe my eyes ;D

the spirit in there is really something else. 8)

where i train here , this started out as "hardcore" gym back in the day, but by now it turned into a small gym chain and focusses more on dancing and such bs zumba(i think thats the name) dances, its sad, but i guess pure economic calculation from the owner. :-[

atleast they left the old equipment in there, its now just surrounded by many cardio machines, a boxing ring and halls for dance courses.

one positive about these courses is,haha, i joined some and learned some cool dance moves, its ok cardio and theres all the hot girls in them ;D

gyms become more and more social chit chat places, which is ok, chatting a bit, but damn, everyone on phone while training is too much.

makes me think whether they have appointment with obama or why are they on the phone in gym, cant be that importnat.

I saw a video of a english pro training in there.... huge guy dreads, cedric something ... big arms well triceps... he was inclining 145, and he was having serious difficulty doing so  :-\, what would you estimate the heaviest dumbells to be.   Thats how i measure how hardcore a gym is.

I think the gym situation in london is unfair to the hardcore or serious trainer, 10 - 15yrs back much better now....most gyms are just filled with annoying people... who have no idea how totrain orwhat gym ettiquette is.
i started out pressups , dips, upside down pressups in my room, once i mastered that aleisure centre gym, mastered that then hardcore gym , now you hve guys who cannot even do 20 pressups training in hardcore gyms.... just in there to fuck around and socialise....

I never ever work back and not do chins....
yes i use weights
i never usually went beyond a plate but ive started to use more weight, most ive used is two 45 lb plates ...
I always laugh atthe idea of big guys not being able to chin, one should always be able to handle their bodyweight

guys who insist on walking to the water fountain for a drink after each and every set, for the main purpose of looking at themselves in the mirror the entire way as they walk by.

guys who spit in the water fountain

guys who don't rinse the sinks properly after shaving in the gym

guys who don't properly dry themselves after taking a shower, and drip water everywhere in the change room.

My favorite in my present gym is the concentration camp skinny arab who does "side laterals" with 70 pounds dumbbells. With max momentum he is able to bring the dumbells about 20 cm away from his waist. He also does something similar on dumbell curls.

I've seen a few skinny black guys do that too, not like basketball player skinny, more like a another vince.
