training when you're sick
« on: February 19, 2013, 04:18:24 PM »
I got the flu and fever, usually if I train when I'm slightly sick I feel better after training (I guess it's the endorphines) but I feel like total crap the next day.

How about diet? Do you train or stick to a diet if you're sick.

The thing is I've already taken a few days off so skipping today's training would make it a week altogether.

yeah I have some fever, not really that bad.  Maybe I could get away with it, maybe I just need some sleep, maybe the fever reduced mi IQ to tbombz levels.

I barely have the strength to reach across the bed for the remote and turn off the god damn television when I have the flu, much less drive to the gym and get in a good workout.

This right here. My girlfriend gets stir crazy, even if she's sick, and wants to do stuff. Just makes it worse! Go to sleep and wake up when it's gone

i go and do some low intesnity stuff,i think it helps

while being sick, diet is the bigger problem.

its either starving or full out eating everything in sight

really? i've never noticed a change

i do avoid alcohol if i am sick... THC doesn't seem to have a negative effect though

Why can't you take a week off of working out?  What's the worse that happens?

I don't go during the incubation period because I don't want to be a dick, but if I'm not contagious then I'll still hit the gym. I just do an upper/lower split, a light full body split or just do whichever body part I was going to train but use nothing more than warm up weights. It's basically a glorified pump session, but I think light cardio and light weight lifting promotes recovery way better than sitting at home and getting congested.

I don't stay at home when I'm sick anymore, but I swear that it speeds up recovery. I feel much, much better if I train lightly.

Exactly, Arthur Jones always would make his trainees do this. Recovery is limited.

a good thing to buy in GSE the liquid one, you can get it at whole foods or other health stores, or online, kills free radicals and keeps your blood clean, natural antibiotic 50 drops a day keeps you good

I can't stand those people who come to the gym when they are sick, coughing and sputtering everywhere, you just know they are retarded, their body is telling them to rest and their immune system is compromised and yet they go to the gym and exert themselves.

Rest and get plenty of fluids and if you can eat home made chicken soup. I find it gives you the fluids as well as its really light. I usually lose my Appetite altogether if I am sick and I even don't want to drink much water.

GSE, chicken noodle soup, echinacea, golden seal, gatorade, water, green tea, honey lemon, and rest, also getting in the steam room helps too, sweat it out.

If you're sick, do a 3 to 5 day water fast. After that, get your body to the alkaline side of things.
