Majority of Americans want illegal immigrants DEPORTED

(Reuters) – More than half of U.S. citizens believe that most or all of the country’s 11 million illegal immigrants should be deported, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Wednesday that highlights the difficulties facing lawmakers trying to reform the U.S. immigration system.

Thirty percent of those polled think that most illegal immigrants, with some exceptions, should be deported, while 23 percent believe all illegal immigrants should be deported.

Only 5 percent believe all illegal immigrants should be allowed to stay in the United States legally, and 31 percent want most illegal immigrants to stay.

Deportations are prohibitively expensive....and the illegals would only return.  The government used to fly them out to the middle and southern end of Mexico...and they subsequently returned just months later....and each deportation combined with administrative and operational costs totalled nearly $100k per individual.  The program was soon aborted.

The issue is complex...mass deportations and fortified walls will not work.  The demand for illegal immigrant labor must be quashed.  Social benefits to illegal immigrants and their families must be absolutely halted.  Both political parties encourage a path to citizenship because they see millions of potential voters.  Apparently, among Hispanic voters, the common language of Spanish unites them like no other issue can, even if the majority of Hispanics would be harmed economically with the advent of sweeping amnesty.

Huge currency disparities, cheap factory labor, massive political corruption, and Drug Cartel violence will continue to send in millions from Central America into the US seeking a better life.

It costs the US $100,000 per person to deport mexicans?  You gotta love the efficiency of the US government.  I can see why liberals are in such a hurry to entrust the .gov with every cent of our money and every aspect of our lives.

Illegals should be deported, period.  Democrats and Republican politicians are lining up to kiss their ass because the see a bunch of poor uneducated people that they can cheaply bribe.  They are ignoring the will of the American people but they keep getting re-elected anyway.   

The idea that it is impossible for the United States to protect it's own border is a fucking lie.

this is not just an american problem... the western world as a whole faced the challenge when we apply our laws to non-citizens and give them the same rights (sometimes more rights as refugees)...

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Associated Press has learned that the Homeland Security Department released more than 2,000 illegal immigrants facing deportation from immigration jails in recent weeks because of looming budget cuts. It also planned to release 3,000 more during March.

The newly disclosed figures, cited in internal government budget documents reviewed by the AP, are significantly higher than what the Obama administration acknowledged this week as a "few hundred" illegal immigrants who were released under the budget-savings process.
