I could never understand the hype surrounding Bob P - In some pics he does look the ideal but others not so much and looking at contest footage he always looked better in the "touched" pics.

Personally I think Rory L looked better and then you have Benfatto,Nubret and Flex , I could never understand the great hype surrounding him as Mr Perfection when there have been many more deserving Physiques over the years.. Not saying he looks bad as he is in fantastic shape I just dont see what the magazines pushed so hard - personal opinion here

paris looks great there,biggest in terms of his build and still lean contest look,,great shape,,one mro he showed up at his lowest 208 i think and looked small still had trademark look but way off...

that would require a great deal of time and close examination of the relevant bodybuilder and his parts........

Keeping it simply by using only Olympia winners, the best bodybuilder would probably be Sergio.

The rest would be a competition between Heath, Zane, Scott and Cutler since they really didn't have any poor bodyparts as such. The big guys like Arnold, Haney, Yates and Ronnie had poor hamstrings, biceps, biceps, calves respectively. If they were reduced to the quality of those bodyparts, I don't see how they could hope to defeat Sergio or even Heath or Zane. Samir only had weak hamstrings so he falls into Arnold's camp with that one. Dickerson also lacked biceps so he would destroyed and Dexter has no calves.

Of course, some moron is going laugh at comparing Larry Scott with Jay Cutler but I'm referring to their physiques at the time they competed. Scott may not have had the best structure but he didn't really have a weak bodypart in the way that Yates had weak biceps, for example.

2 things...
1. Paris was the closest thing to Steve Reeves to ever come along.
Reeves for the older guys like Sly Stallone and the guys that ran the mags
is like Arnold for the 30-50 year olds now because of his movies. Reeves is still
considered by many to be the ultimate male physique.
2. Unrelated, but Bob's best was when he won the National's and Universe.
Most expected him to improve on that but he never really did. He got in great
shape in some 1989 contests but still not as muscular as when he 1st turned pro.

Ahhh if u ever seen Shawn ray during his competitive years his calves were not a weakness nor bad, yes they were high calves but very good same with Cormier

Very complete, flow and proportionate

But back wasn't great, and at times legs overpowered

Popularity is also linked to being a good looking guy, sold magazines

Many people consider him to be their inspiration

Thing about him, is I've seen pics out of shape with bloofy face, little separation, and he really looked completely different. He had to be "on" to be impressive, or looked like average big gym rat

Shawn Ray had fantastic calves......I saw him at Gold's Venice in 2001.....I was rather surprised that his calves were so sensational......pics don't do his calves justice. My 2 cents.
