was an amazing lifter . his ability to reach 2370 in powerlifting at 282 bwt . is remembered .   905 squat and big deadlift too . scotsdale arizona . was good in discus throw and weightlifting also .

Rest in Piece Big Jon.
 I'm glad I got to get to spend some time with him back in 1977. He gave it his all always. Here is a shot of myself, Bob Zuver (dad) and Big Jon at the WSM Show. And Jon lifting Zuver's 200lbs water barrel. Not an easy thing to do even today. Plus a few more shots.
He will be missed.

Shame, most youngsters wouldn't recall him, but he was one of the greats from when weightlifters were strong across multiple sports. Here is a nice article on him from years back -
