I don't think Shawn went over 200, until '98 or '99. Had he been 215, with his shape and proportions, he would have taken that Sandow from Yates in '94.
the point is , irregardless of his weight that year, Shawn was teh rightful winner in 94
Shawn Ray was 201.5 his first Mr. O, and then he went up to 205. In 1998 he was about 215. And then later on possibly 218.
Yes he was very impressive esp when u see him a couple of wks out , cheek bones all sunken in only bber that I know that doesn't have a gut and does a vacuum in the 90sMy bud KevinP told me he talked with Shawn and said he didn't take insulin straight from his mouth, don't know how true that was but him being 5'7 I would imagine steriods, gh and diuretics is all u need, might be telling the truth
eh, Dex has had a huge turtle belly since '99.. watch footage of the mr o 99.and what don't you ppl get? you can't maintain 260lbs eating 2k kcal a day. it takes a large amount of food to continue to grow. most guys here are saying Bob Paris should be the goal, not Kai... well, most the guys saying that will NEVER look like Bob Paris themselves, much less Kai.Once they attain some size and can compare their phisque to Bob's (or Benafattos, ect), suddenly it won't be good enough, and they'll want to keep growing and improving... because THATS WHAT BODYBUILDERS DO. any "bodybuilder" who says 'nah, i'm good enough... i don't wanna get any bigger', is ONLY saying that because they CANNOT get any bigger... so they make it sound like it's by choice, not genetic (or work ethic) limitation.
It was said here numerous times that Shawn Ray was from the Old Skool, and used those dosages and drugs. Funny, how it was that in his last Olympias he weighed in at what was considered Flex's best weight. And Flex was the one who apparently delved into GH (needing braces) and maybe insulin.
all credit to Dorian for starting BellyBuilding
Shawn did the business of bodybuilding (his coined term) the way it should be done. You gotta respect a guy like that especially at 5'6 and 205 at his best. If anyone asked who they should follow in terms of bodybuilding and how it's done. I would say Shawn Ray without hesitation. Dude is easily one of the greats of all time. As much as I'd like punch him in his face sometimes (before he runs to call his lawyer sister) you gotta respect what he's done in and for this sport. He was the first pro I ever met. I'll never forget it. It was in 96. Dude was awesome.
