Some Sites around the Capital of the Greatest Nation on Earth

Last weekend, while most people decided to take an excursion to watch some oiled up thong wearers under the lights, my woman and I decided to visit the capital of the greatest nation on Earth, Washington, DC. United States of America.

I highly recommend every citizen to make this trip. There is something very awe inspiring to see the nation from it's humble beginnings and grow to this juggernaut we have today.

Here are a few photos that we took around town.








This one is probably my favorite... I got a big panoramic of the WWII Memorial.

If you don't feel anything when you stand in front of some of these monuments, you're just not human.

It's funny you post this, my wife and I were talking a out visiting DC the other day. Haven't been for any sight seeing type purpose since 5th grade. Looks like a cool weekend trip.

I went to DC last year during Memorial Day weekend.. it was awesome seeing everything. Before that I hadn't been there since I was like 9 and in boy scouts lol.

It's funny you post this, my wife and I were talking a out visiting DC the other day. Haven't been for any sight seeing type purpose since 5th grade. Looks like a cool weekend trip.

It's very cool.

I recommend taking at least 3 days or so... So take a Friday or a Monday off to get some of it in.

I hit the National Museums also... so if you don't want to do that, then a weekend is plenty of time.

If memory serves, when the Lincoln Memorial was dedicated Blacks were not allowed to attend. Always thought that was some kind of cosmic irony.

I have lived in US for 10 years also in Switzerland ... so I have plenty to compare it with. I loved US and there are many nice places. I just didn't find DC plesant at all.

I do not drive in DC... It's pointless... Walk and take the Metro... That's the only way to travel in DC.

I was in DC in January 2 weeks before the inauguration. My lasting impression of DC is that it's a controlled olive state. Cops, security & cameras EVERYWHERE. lots of yippies too

Did you see the House of the Temple by any chance?

That's something I definitely want to check out.

I found both air and space museums impressive (the one in D.C and the other one on the outskirts). Seeing the space shuttle, the Enola Gay, and an SR-71 is cool.

Of course, I've never been to the air and space museums in Romania -- those might be better.

I did not see it... I was checking out all of the national monuments, but I will put that on the list for the next time I'm in the area.

Blacks were allowed to attend, but in a special area to the back and side of audience. There was quite a stir made about Robert Moton's speech, in which he was kind to Lincoln's memory, but still critical of race relations.

It's ok, in all honesty, I think if they could've gotten away with it, they would've excluded them. I tried to find a picture of the set up, but the only easily available pictures only show a few blacks as valets, etc...... at the event.
