i can't listen to much rap these days, but jay-z's blueprint stuff is listenable.  the new stuff is a little tame. motivational stuff back then.

Can listen in very small doses. He's a jerk off but he capture the urban imagination. Just like all the white kids wanted to be a bad ass like Elvis in the 50s, all the ghettolings want to be like him now. Rich for doing something they ALL think they can do, banging a hot chick etc.

The difference is the 50s greasers got jobs and today's  hood rats get prison numbers.  :-\

i dont think his even in the 60M range, whats his income stream? beyonce seems like she makes more, im sure diddy is worth more from his cologne and sean john clothes range.

I'm glad you said that.  Corny is the word that jumps into my mind when I hear him.  He has this one song where at the beginning there is some dumb ass into.  It says (paraphrasing) "This is a public service announcement...blah blah...it is with the utmost pride and sincerity... blah blah blah, history in the making, etc".  Corny as fuck.  The fact that this douchebag is rewarded for that trash amazes me.  I like rap music for the most part but this is one dude that I can't stand.  He made a big deal about "retiring" and then of course is right back polluting the airwaves.
