WEIDER IS SYNONYMOUS WITH BODYBUILDING AS WE KNOW IT  . he was the founder and pionner of many things . mr olympia was his thing too .

 :) it was 1965 larry scott and joe weider were sitting down drinking an olympia beer discussing the state of bodybuilding. how a guy once he wins mr america or mr universe has no where to go but out of the sport. the rst his history. incidentally larry scott never got the 1000 dollar prize for winning the first mr olympia that was contingent on the show turning a profit. all larry got was the mazzola butter kings crown.

And I still think that while what he did for bodybuilding was overall good (minus the huge dope problem today but especially for  bringing Arnold here) Joe was the Hugh Hefner of Schmoes.
hoffman actually had first crack{pun unintended} at arnold but he turned him down because he didn't see the purpose of havinfg a pro bodybuilder on the payroll.

Weider created what we know as bodybuilding. I didnt know the man, but he deserves to be respected for his contributions. R.I.P. Joe.

Jewish tradition requires the interval between death and the funeral and burial as short as possible, often the same day, except on the Sabbath.  So if they are observant, the burial will be today.
