The attorney for Mark Duper said Friday that the former Miami Dolphins star receiver did not abuse his 17-year-old son as charged, and that Duper will be exonerated once all the facts come out. Authorities say Duper, 54, punched, body-slammed and choked a minor, rendering him unconscious. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office declined to identify the victim, but Duper, reached by The Miami Herald Thursday, acknowledged his son Marcus was involved. However, many of the particulars about the incident did not happen the way law enforcement has said, claims Duper’s Miami-based attorney, George D. Cholakis. Duper was charged with felony child abuse, and later released from jail on $5,000 bond.
