Texas HS Senior benches 700 pounds.
« on: March 25, 2013, 07:27:58 AM »
On Saturday, Poursoltani, a senior at Pilot Point (Tx.) High, bench-pressed 700 pounds. The weight was a new Texas state record, not to mention a personal record, topping 670 pounds, as he lifted 700 pounds. Yes, 700 pounds. To put that in perspective, the top NFL bench press mark is reportedly 705 pounds, as lifted by former Dallas Cowboys offensive guard Larry Allen.

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/highschool-prep-rally/texas-senior-sets-bench-press-record-astonishing-700-101340413.html

Before anyone even consider whether Poursoltani has benefitted from performance enhancing substances, the powerlifting lineman wants to make sure that everyone knows he is committed to competing clean.
“If you need something to help you work out, you need to get out of the sport,” Poursoltani told the Morning News. “If you can’t drive yourself that hard to come in here and work out, then it’s probably just not for you.”
The answer is "yes".

Handsome bench shirt, needs a few more layers though, it hasn't given him the cute 1930's zombie arms out in front walk yet.

natural  ::)

I bet he beleives he is natural because the coach that injects him daily claims those needles are filled with B-12.

Yup, and the way that article is written.  The general public doesn't have the slightest clue what a bench shirt is or how much it is cheating helping save his shoulders :).

Obviously a strong (to say the least) kid, but his shirt likely gives him a few hundred. And the natural claim? Possible, I suppose, but highly unlikely.

This kid is strong, no doubt about it.  However, this modern day powerlifting shit is getting out of control.  Suit, ultra wide grip, back arch, 6" ROM.   ::)  I'm not taking anything away from him, he's stronger than 99% of the public.  Now, take away the suit, give him a normal grip, normal arch in the back, elbows out instead of in, lower the bar straight down instead of dipping it to the belly.  Do all this, and this kid would struggle with 495.

The coaches, and everyone boosting his ego are doing him a disservice.  He thinks he's the stronger than the strongest NFL players, and the reality is, they're only teaching him how to cheat.

This is much more impressive:

Do you honestly think that kid has enough experience to get 200lbs plus out of a shirt. He's strong, and has the balls to get under 700lbs. Some guys can do it..props to that kid.

That's still about a 500lb raw bench for a teenager!!!  Kid looks natural (but could be using) so regardless of shirt he's monstrously strong not only for his age, but for a human.

There's lots of strong mofos like this.  Growing up a friend of mine in highschool.  Complete country boy.  Tall big dude.  His wrists were fucking thick.  Big strong joints.  Can lift anything and never worked out.  Throw him in a gym and he'd be doing the same thing.

Unfortunately, there is no real way to even get a rough idea about how much "or little" someone can bench raw based on their shirted lift.  Especially if it is a multi-ply shirt.  Some people get insane poundage's out of their shirt while others much less.

Still though gravity defines this as 700 pounds.  Most people's wrists would snap under that weight.
