I will say this about Strydom:
I think he beat Gaspari in the first Arnold Classic.
That decision was a joke.
In 1989, IMO, gaspari beat robby and strydom fairly. He was the best onstage. Yes, he had the momentum of the weider machine, but he was complete
Robby lacked the lower body and conditioning, wasn't at his best, gaspari was much thicker, that was gaspari at his best, thick back and pecs, decent arms
Strydom was always sharp, but sometimes sacrificed muscle for conditioning, gaspari had both. From behind strydom had very good hams, and had ripped glutes, etc, but gaspari had all that plus thickness, size and conditioning, and he had a back
Compare the 3, frame-wise, Robby wins, strydom fantastic delts, tight waist
Gaspari had the worst frame of the 3, but he had a package that on its best day was unbeatable.
If gaspari was around competing today, hed go on stage looking like a mixture of branch/heath/kai, full of slin/gh/oil, he'd win 3 shows in a row, and die a gruesome death the next day.. He pushed everything to the limit.
