BUT, he's right about this. The only reason Fletcher never turned Pro is the fact that he never dialed it in good enough to win a National level show. Hell, today he'd turn Pro easily, what with the NPC giving away Pro Cards for not even winning one's class!

He did look great. He just couldn't dial it in, when it mattered. He was the odds-on favorite to win the 1993 North American Championships (even with the magazines, hyping the return of Rory Leidmeyer, who dropped out of that show and flopped at the Nationals). But, Fletcher didn't quite nail it and ended up in 3rd place in the heavyweights, behind Stan McCrary and heavyweight (and overall champion), Dave Fisher.

Who took the overall that year? I'm under the impression that Stan turned Pro in 95.

Either way. It's a shame indeed that he couldn't pull it together when it mattered. All I know is that he looked freaky yet pleasing long before Photoshop was the norm.
