Groovebox to mix beats for posing routine?
« on: April 01, 2013, 06:57:26 PM »
Back in 1995 or 1996, I owned a Roland MC-303 groovebox.  Used it for recording beats, writing, etc.

The new versions have come and gone... the last one I understood was the MC-808.

I'm looking for whatever people are using for laying down beats, add bassline, then add music (and possibly sampling) in 2013.

A machine is cool, but maybe software-based?  I'm completely out of touch and don't know where to begin searching.  Thanks!

I figured that would be possible these days... I have used audacity for simple mp3 editing, but I want something that'll write beats, let me play the little keys, etc.

I've been looking... I'm embarassed to say I don't even know what to search for... sequencer?  "Music writing software"?

I'm hoping some 260-pound, 7% bodyfat getbigger will finish his 3-way with the supermodel mothers of other members, and deliver a "hey bro, XYZ software is exactly what you need for that groovebox kinda writing..."

Abelton is awesome.

This too. I just enjoy the look and functionality of having a rack and actual looking hardware devices/cables in front of me.

Depends how professional you want to be with this stuff 240, but a couple of solid programs for music creation are Cubase, and Pro Logic (A lot of chart music you hear is made on pro logic).

These are not 'user friendly' however, so start with something like Garage Band on the mac, which is easy as shit.
