While I won't say they are responsible for the misfortunes of others, that small minority does really well for themselves, although not due to anything underhanded. They intermingle, value family,are responsible, and help their children. The Mormons are actually doing about the same thing, and many are successful.

Exactly.  The "you are on your own" mentality is for poor people.  Wanting your children or family to struggle is just crazy to me and I can`t understand why a lot of Americans/Christians embrace this sort of mentality.  Its really strange.

just drive around a lot collecting bodies from retirement homes 90% of the time (which means all cleaned up and ready to go, light also underfed perhaps) and transporting them to mortuary, dress them up (this eats up a lot of time very fast)

Also, depending on where they are from, they rarely report crimes--things are handle within the community...

And lets not forget, when the kids are Americanized, they either waste the money, go for bad, or disrespect their elders. It's almost as if the parent, not wanting their child to surpass them, cripples them so they don't have to be jealous. I was not spoiled, but my folks helped me out. When I wanted a car while in high school, my parents matched what I had, and then helped me buy a car. Then, let me work a job, as long as it didn't interfere with my studies. Teaching service for your family members, and helping when they need help is good for everyone. Shit, I have a week old infant and am living with my brother until my house is done(renovation ran over two weeks, floors were finished yesterday, moving in this weekend), and I'm sure this isn't ideal for him, but it's what you do for family. Show your children success, and hope they achieve it while helping them to achieve it. I want my kids to do better than me, and will help in any way I can so they can achieve it.
