I looked at the video.. I see a lock on it... I see it locked. With a gate like that, if one of the gates are not held fast by a rod going into the ground, you can open them by pushing on them if it is a slide bar lock. I know this because I've had fences like that. Maybe he hasnt.

If you're agile and in shape, it is fun to jump fences.

maybe dude just likes to hop a fence like an armed boss from time to time?

You'd be wrong...does that surprise you?

I wasn't far off - certainly below mine.  Average cop IQ is 104.

Cool, seen that number before. If you would be so kind as to give  me the link not to the news story of the guy with the 125 IQ who was not hired in New London, but the link to the actual study, we can dissect it together and see if it holds up to some scrutiny.

It's not just about smarts. It's physical tests, mental tests and interviews. Being smart just doesn't qualify you to be a cop.

Agreed. Also, I don't know of any departments that give an IQ test so the 104 is suspect at best. It was also from before 1996 and many departments started requiring some college or a degree. I'm not saying all cops are smart, that isn't the case and we've got a few that have been on the force for 20 yrs who slipped through the cracks and can't write a decent report to save their life. But the young ones these days seem to be of better than average intelligence. Fortunately, most of the criminals we have to deal with are in the double digits so 104 would be more than adequate  ;)

Which departments?

LA Sheriff does not. Nor does LAPD, or NYPD (If you have military experience).

I would actually argue that most departments only require you to be 21, a US citizen, and not a felon.

This is from a quick google search. Ours did up until about 2 months ago when the Chief got rid of the requirement, arguing that we were losing out on potential candidates and that our in house screening and requirements would still insure we get the best recruits.

Police Agencies That Require a
Four-Year College Degree for New Officers

As of August 23, 2006 PACE is aware that the below listed departments require, by policy or practice, a four year college degree for entering officers. (Asterisk  indicates that extensive law enforcement with AA degree or military experience with AA Degree is acceptable in some cases.) Where known, department web site addresses are shown.

I was PISSED that the dude was hiding in a boat the entire.  RIGHT BEHIND the house where the guy video'd the gunfight.  He went out for a smoke today and saw his tarp was adjusted, looked in, and saw bad guy.

Fucking terrible police work, not to search outdoor hiding spaces approx 200 feet from the shooting lol... pathetic.

yes, they're getting applauded, yes, they had a shitty day and were brave to show up and do the manhunt.. but SOMEONE should have searched that damn boat.

What bothered me was that when they started to publicly thank all the various law enforcement agencies involved in the capture of the individuals, they forgot to thank the biggest hero of them all, which was the owner of that boat, who simply went outside and caught the kid hiding inside of it.

Without that guy's help, the second individual could have disappeared all together.

I didn't see the actual speech but if that is the case, then jeez... The public is so much a part of a departments success, calling in suspicious persons, burglaries in progress and other crimes that departments should go OUT OF THEIR WAY to make sure they are recognized.

No, he would have bled out and died in that boat. He was in there all night with bullet wounds from the night before.  Foot and neck/trap area.

And this is why you don't have a clue... at 25 seconds you see the cops leaving cover to start to move to a better vantage point or to a location they needed to be at. At that very moment shots are fired. Only a stupid, idiotic moron would not move faster to the next cover. This is why you really need to leave the commenting to people with experience or just a simple base knowledge..

Give me your base knowledge on how come over 500 cops and FBI never looked under the tarp of the boat which wasn't far from the street shooting?

Russia asked FBI to investigate Tamerlan Tsarnaev in 2011 – report

http://rt.com/news/fbi-tsarnaev-foreign-request-150

Edited time: April 20, 2013 19:18

Russia asked the FBI to investigate Boston bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev in 2011, a source in US law enforcement told Reuters. The FBI had earlier reported on its website that an unnamed ‘foreign government’ had asked them for information.

The slain Boston marathon bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev, who previously was designated as Suspect 1, was investigated in 2011 by the FBI upon a certain foreign state’s request.

The state, which was not identified in the statement on the FBI website, filed a request concerning Tsarnaev saying that he was a follower of radical Islam and was preparing to leave the US for a particular region to join “unspecified underground groups.”

The FBI says they checked all the information possible, looking for “derogatory telephone communications, possible use of online sites associated with the promotion of radical activity, associations with other persons of interest,” and checking the suspect’s travel history, plans, and education history.

Tsarnaev and his family members were also interviewed by the FBI.

Upon analyzing the data, the FBI had found nothing suspicious at the time.

“The FBI did not find any terrorism activity, domestic or foreign, and those results were provided to the foreign government in the summer of 2011. The FBI requested but did not receive more specific or additional information from the foreign government,” the FBI statement says.

Wow :o...At 26 seconds it looks like 2 cops run for there lives. If true, these two should be given their walking papers 2mrw. I hope that they were running around that house and gonna hit from a different position. But something tells me they bailed. It's not that I blame them, its just tax payer money shouldn't fund their lives anymore imop.

dude this isn't fucking super commando vs predator... either hit th deck or run for cover.

What do you define as "wasn't far"? If the distance of 3/4 mile is what we are working with, there could be a couple reasons. 3/4 distance in all directions of the vehicle is a very significant radius.

"Officials announced at 6:00 p.m. news conference that they had been unable to apprehend the suspect, despite combing through a 20-block area of the Boston suburb of Watertown and shutting down the city's entire public transportation system in an effort to prevent him from fleeing. They said they did not know if he had a car, or if he was still on foot. The home where Tsarnaev was eventually discovered was outside the 20-block perimeter, and had not been searched."

A 20 block perimeter is pretty extensive.. and reasonable.

Most of you guys are mental midgets with your comments about the cops. If someone is shooting at you running for cover seems to be great tactics before engaging. Cops are dummies? When the  NJ State Police post openings  for a 100 positions for their $105K job without overtime they get 10,000 applications. In that group of applications there are many professionals with advance degrees of all types applying. You guys Monday morning quarterbacking shows what kind of dopes you are.

Regarding the out of shape FBI agents you got me on that one. Most are not really elite physical cops but attorneys, computer, accountants, and language experts. They are looking for thinkers and not the physical. They select from the band and not the football team.
Maybe the recruiters are looking for the dummies intentionally and overlooking the sharp ones?
